For a different view of Boston & Boston harbor, consider taking the ferry from Hewitt’s Cove in Hingham to Long Wharf in Boston.  The ferry terminal is off 3A in Hingham, behind Trader Joe’s, Bed, Bath & Beyond, etc.  It’s about 25-30 minutes from the house. Enter 28 Shipyard Drive, Hingham into your GPS.

Parking in the MBTA parking lot is $2 per day using the PAYBYPHONE app.

Exit the terminal after purchasing ferry tickets, and wait under the blue canopy for the ferry to arrive and unload.

To see the ferry schedule check out https://www.mbta.com/schedules/Boat-F1/timetable

It leaves for Boston roughly every hour, more frequently during rush hour.

The ferry sells snacks & drinks on board, there’s plenty of seating inside and also outside on the 2 decks.  It’s a beautiful trip past many of the Boston Harbor Islands (also worth checking out).

Once you arrive at Long Wharf, you are steps away from the Aquarium, across the Rose Kennedy Greenway from Faneuil Hall Marketplace and a few blocks from fabulous Italian food in the North End.

Our favorite ferry destination from Long Wharf is the North End.  Plan a relaxing lunch at Casarecce Ristorante.  Stop at Monica’s pasta shop and bring home fresh pasta.  Or shop for bread, olives and delicious sandwiches at Salumeria Italiana and picnic at Christopher Columbus Park.
