Scituate Like a Local
A fun Saturday morning exploration 5 minutes away in North Scituate gets the family out of the house to burn off some energy, indulge in a treat, and for the grownups, everything you need for Happy Hour can be purchased at the last stop.
Start with an easy hike at the Ellis Estate Trail, 709 Country Way
https://www.nsrwa.org/listing/ellis-estate-trails

The trails have something for everyone. Beautiful, century old trees, old stone fences and a small pond are spread throughout the property.

The prize at the end of the trail is the Bailey-Ellis house, built in 1830

Down the road, and around the corner from the Ellis Estate is the North Scituate Playground, 19 Henry Turner Bailey Rd. Pirate themed, and fun for ages 18 months-12 years.

Swing sets, slides, a climbing structure and zip line are lots of fun. The surface is stroller friendly. There are benches and picnic tables as well. No bathrooms.

Join the crowd and flock to the fence each time “the purple train” comes by, usually twice an hour.

Now that everyone has burned off some energy, join the queue at Brewed 143, 772 Country Way, for their weekly delivery of Donut King! The store opens on Saturday at 7. In the Fall, the cider doughnuts are an extra special treat.

While the kids are selecting their doughnuts check out the gourmet cheeses, crackers, snacks, craft beer & wine selections for Happy Hour next door at Board 143, 776 Country Way.

Head back to the serenity of the Salt Marshes at Treasure Island, a little tired and loaded down with treats for the kids and the adults.
