Where’s the fish?
Within 10 minutes from The Salt Marshes, you can purchase fresh fish and enjoy a sea-to-table meal! Watch our local fishermen bring in their catch in the beautiful harbors of Scituate and Cohasset.
Scituate Harbor is home to many local fishermen and the Scituate town pier is a wonderful place to watch and learn. If you are with children, this place is a fun way to learn about the different types of fish caught, the pulley system used to haul the fish up to the pier and watch sea birds circling for a possible snack.
Mullaney’s Harborside (mullaneysseafood.com) in Scituate Harbor offers locally and sustainably caught fish unloaded from fishing boats at the town pier. That is as fresh as you can get! They also sell prepared foods and accompaniments for your fish dinner. Want to have someone else prepare this fantastic seafood? Mullaney’s offers a full raw bar, catered at your preferred location, or they will host you with a fully catered event held at their lovely 2nd-floor event space in Scituate Harbor.
Mullaney’s has a second location on Route 3A in Cohasset. They are also committed to selling the freshest fish as well as soups, salads, and other freshly prepared items in their market. At this location, they will also steam a lobster for you. Call the store to confirm (781-383-1181) and then get your butter ready!
Cohasset Harbor is another stunning harbor to watch the local fishermen. There is a walkway the length of the harbor that gives you an up close view of the fishing boats.
Our favorite place to purchase fresh, local lobster is at the Cohasset Lobster Pound, right in Cohasset Harbor.
This is a retail and wholesale market (781-383-1551) and a fun place to pick the type and size of lobster you want. The prices are very reasonable and they will pack your lobsters in dry ice if you want to bring some home after your vacation at The Salt Marshes has ended.
We hope you get a chance to taste some of the treasures from our little corner of the sea!
